How Does This All Work? FAQ Page

GOOD QUESTIONS, GREAT ANSWERS.

Everything you wanted to know about The Artist Hive (but might be afraid to ask).

First time visiting? Not sure if you're artsy enough? Wondering whether you can bring your favourite people?

We've got answers. And probably a little paint on our hands.

Do I need to be artistic?

Absolutely not. In fact, that's kind of the point! The Hive is about having fun, trying something new, and making something that's perfectly imperfect. No talent required. Just show up and give it a go.

How does The Artist Hive work?

Think of us as a creative playground for grown-ups ... and sometimes for kids that bring along their big humans to help!

Choose something you'd like to make, place your order at the front counter, find yourself a seat, and get creating. Staff will set you up with everything that you need. There's something for everyone.

Do I need to book ahead?

For scheduled events and private parties, yes please!

For casual creative visits, open studio nights, and craft cafe time... check our current hours and availability before popping in. Information is available on our website.

What can I make at The Hive?

Oh, so many things!

Paint a canvas, decorate a hat, create something sparkly, try collage, or pick a project from our rotating selection of creative activities.

Our menu changes as new ideas (and supplies!) find their way into The Hive.

How much does it cost?

That depends on what you're making!

Each activity has its own price, so you can choose something that suits your mood and your budget. Prices are also marked in the studio.

Can I bring food or drinks?

Heck Yes!

Non alcoholic beverages are welcome at The Hive and we don't want anyone to get hangry! Bring a snack and make some art.

Can I come by myself?

PLEASE DO!

Sometimes the best company is your own. Come create, unwind, and enjoy a little time doing something just for you.

Can I bring a friend?

Of course! Bring your bestie, your sister, your mom, your favourite coworker, your other half, or that person who's always saying you should do something fun together.

Can we sit by ourselves?

Well maybe... if you're lucky and no one else shows up that night.

The studio has two large community tables, so be prepared to share space with new friends if spaces fill up. If you don't really like to talk to other people there are private booking options too!

Can I book the whole studio?

You sure can!

Birthdays, girls' nights, team get-togethers, family celebrations, or just an excuse to gather your favourite humans.

You bring the people. We'll help with the creative fun.

Visit our PARTIES page to explore private bookings.

Seating for up to 12 people. There is a non-refundable booking rental fee of $100. This gets you the studio space with whomever YOU want to be there. This fee is separate from the cost of each person's activity. Participants will choose and pay for their individual crafts and activities at the event.

What if I don't like people, but I like MY people?

Then a private party might be exactly your thing. See above question.

Your people. Your playlist. Your creative adventure. No awkward small talk with strangers required.

Do you host special events?

We sure do!

Keep an eye on our EVENTS calendar for creative nights, seasonal projects, workshops, and whatever other fun ideas we dream up. We also book private parties!

What should I wear?

Something comfortable that you won't be heartbroken about getting a little paint on.

We do our best to keep things tidy, but creativity can get messy!

Can I Keep My Shoes On Inside?

Sorry Bruh, nope!

Outside footwear must be removed at the front door... the floors are new and we want to keep them lovely. Bring slippers along if you wish to wear something inside.

Can I take my creation home?

Usually, yes!

Some projects may need extra time to cool or set before they're ready to travel. We'll let you know what to expect when you choose your activity.

Is The Hive just for kids?

Nope! The Artist Hive is designed with grown-ups in mind.

We believe adults deserve to play, experiment, make a mess, and have a little fun too.

Where Is The Artist Hive?

You can find us in a cute quirky little studio in downtown Dawson Creek, BC. The address is 924 102 Avenue.

Is The Hive Open During Business Hours?

No, not usually! Missy has a 9-to-5'er that she loves... so The Hive opens on select evenings and weekends. Check our calendar for upcoming open studio hours, events, and availability!

What if I start something and it's terrible?

First of all, rude. Don't talk about your masterpiece that way.

Second, there are no grades, no judges, and no gold stars for perfection here.

Sometimes we make something wonderful. Sometimes we learn what we'd do differently next time. Either way, we made something. You can't mess up creativity!
